Note: This article refers to NICEIC Cert Software V1 (2008-2018). If you are looking for the new (2019) guide, this will be coming soon.
If you have Avast antivirus, you may experience a problem when trying to update the NICEIC Software.
This problem is down to Avast flagging our update application as a virus and removing the file. We have raised this with Avast and are hoping to get this resolved as quickly as possible as this file does not contain a virus. But for the time being here are a few things you can amend within Avast to stop the NICEIC Software being seen as a virus.
- First, open your Avast antivirus software and go to settings > general.
- Find the exclusions tab.
- Add the below files to the exclusion list.
C:\Program Files (x86)\NICEIC\Certification\cert2008.exe (NICEIC Main Application)
C:\Program Files (x86)\NICEIC\Certification\clupdate.exe (NICEIC Update Application)
- Click OK and exit Avast.
You will also need to exclude some websites as well.
- First, open your Avast antivirus software and go to settings > general.
- Find and click on the exclusions tab, then click on the URL's tab.
- Add the below URL's to the exclusion list.
http://updates.clikregistration.com
http://updates.cliksoftware.com
- Click OK and exit Avast.
If you want to, you can follow Avast’s step-by-step guide here.
Once Clik has been added to the exclusion list this should stop any issues when opening or updating the NICEIC Software.
